What to Expect from a Sitter Session Photography?
A sitter session is one of the sweetest milestones to photograph! As the name suggests, a sitter session is a photoshoot for babies who can sit up confidently on their own, usually between 6 to 9 months old. This stage comes just before they start crawling, making it the perfect time to capture those adorable, smiley moments.
Sanne’s Sitter Session: A Peek into the Experience
Sanne’s family booked a sitter session when she was exactly 7.5 months old, and she was a delight to photograph! One of the best parts of photographing babies at this age is that they are often open to new faces and quick to share big, beautiful smiles with the camera. Sanne was no exception. Her sweet expressions and cheerful personality made every shot precious.
Choosing the Perfect Location
After discussing ideas with Sanne’s family, we decided on a nice bushland location. Outdoor sessions like these provide a lovely natural backdrop that enhances the beauty of family sessions. We started with some family photos, capturing moments with Sanne, her mum, and her dad together. Sanne looked absolutely adorable, whether she was wearing her cute little bow headband or the flower headband. In the middle of the session she changed into another outfit from my client wardrobe, which I always have available if you want extra options. Just let me know in advance so I can bring a few choices.
Highlighting the “Sitter” Milestone
After these family shots, it was Sanne’s time to shine on her own! During a sitter session, I love capturing babies in a variety of poses that highlight their newfound sitting skills. I got some adorable photos of Sanne sitting up and also some tummy time shots, where she looked around with curiosity. She especially enjoyed lying on her back, reaching for her toes, such a precious moment!
One of Sanne’s parents’ requests was to capture her holding their hands as she tried to take tiny steps. This simple, beautiful moment of her gripping their fingers as she practiced standing is now preserved forever in their collection of memories. Photos like these tell a story that words simply can’t.
