Pregnancy is a journey filled with anticipation, joy, and a whirlwind of emotions. But experiencing it alongside your best friend takes it to another level. You’ve got someone who truly gets it, the excitement, the weird symptoms, the rollercoaster of emotions. Those late night chats about baby names, comparing belly sizes, and laughing over the unexpected surprises of pregnancy create a bond that’s unlike any other.

Steph and Jade’s friendship is something truly special. Both Australian, they met through their husbands, who are Assyrian and longtime friends. From the moment they met, they clicked instantly and now call each other soul sisters. They understand each other deeply, knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses, which makes their bond effortless and strong. Going through pregnancy together has made their connection even stronger. They’ve been there for each other every step of the way, offering support and sharing every high and low. For Jade, this is her first pregnancy, while Steph is expecting her third. Jade calls Steph her pregnancy coach because, in her words, “Steph knows absolutely everything.” From the big milestones to the little surprises along the way, Steph has been there to guide and support her.

Throughout their pregnancies, they’ve made the most of this special time, exercising together, going on vacations, and now a maternity session together. This maternity session was Jade’s gift to Steph, a way to celebrate this incredible milestone as their baby bumps grow side by side. But more than that, it was a way to mark the beginning of a beautiful new chapter, one where their children will be close in age, sharing life’s moments together just as their mothers have.

We started this session in Steph’s beautiful home, where we captured intimate, heartfelt moments of their growing families.

After the in-home shots, it was time to step into nature. Dressed in stunning outfits from Sara Photography’s client wardrobe, we headed outdoors for a breathtaking maternity session in the bushland, a perfect backdrop to capture their incredible journey into motherhood. Just the two best friends, glowing, laughing, and embracing this incredible season of their lives together. The joy and connection they shared were undeniable, making for some of the most emotional and meaningful maternity photos I’ve ever taken.

The weather forecast wasn’t looking promising, with cloudy skies and a high chance of rain threatening our plans. But rather than stressing about the conditions, Jade and Steph embraced the uncertainty with excitement. They were more than ready to dance in the rain if it came to that, which made my job as a photographer so much easier. This adventurous mindset created a stress free environment, allowing me to focus purely on capturing their beautiful connection without worry. Fortunately, we managed to finish the session just before the rain arrived, giving us the best of both worlds, a dramatic sky and stunning photos filled with warmth and love.
